Credits for WhatsApp, text messages and AI

Your workspace has one credit balance. It pays for the WhatsApp and text messages Zolensa sends for you, and for AI on Zolensa's account, such as transcripts and translations. 1 credit is US$0.01, so US$10 buys 1,000 credits. Owners manage credits under Settings, Credits.

Your balance is shown at the bottom of the sidebar on every page. It turns amber when it is below your alert level, and red when it is empty.

What uses credits

• WhatsApp and text messages sent through Zolensa: invitations, reminders, message notices and the WhatsApp chat. Each message costs its price for the recipient's country.
• AI on Zolensa's account:
• transcripts, per minute of recording
• translations of study texts, consent forms and transcripts, and AI analysis, per 1,000 characters read and written
• reading a photo, or a screen recording
• AI search

What things cost on the Credits page lists the current prices, with message prices for the countries your participants are in. The full list of message prices is under Settings, WhatsApp and Text messages.

Owners can switch each service off: WhatsApp and text messages under Settings, WhatsApp and Text messages, and AI under Settings, AI or here with Let AI use credits. Email is always on and free.

These use no credits:

• email
• messages that fail, and AI uses that fail
• your own Twilio or text message account, under Settings, WhatsApp and Text messages
• your own AI provider, under Settings, AI. Transcripts still use credits, because speech is always turned into text by Zolensa's speech service.

Free credits every month

On the 1st of each month your workspace gets free credits. On a paid plan it is 5% of your monthly plan price, rounded. A free trial or a complimentary plan gets a set amount. The Credits page shows how many you get.

Free credits are used before the credits you bought. Free credits you do not use end with the month. Credits you bought do not expire.

Buy credit

1. In the sidebar, click Settings, then Credits. Or click the balance at the bottom of the sidebar.
2. Under Buy credit, choose an amount, or Other for any amount from US$10 to US$5,000.
3. Click Continue to payment.
4. Pay at the checkout, as for your plan.

The credit is added as soon as you pay, with an invoice under Billing, Bills and payments. In India you get a GST invoice in rupees. See Plans and billing.

When credit runs out

When the balance reaches zero:

• WhatsApp and text messages through Zolensa stop. Participants still get email.
• AI on Zolensa's account stops. New transcripts wait, and are written as soon as you add credit.

Uses are charged when they finish, so the balance can go slightly below zero.

The low balance email

1. Under Alerts and AI, tick Email the owners when the balance falls below.
2. Type the number of credits, such as 200.
3. Click Save.

The owners get one email when the balance goes below that number. The next one comes only after the balance has been topped up and falls again.

Stop AI from using credits

Untick Let AI use credits and click Save. AI then works only with your own AI provider, under Settings, AI. Transcripts wait until you tick it again.

The usage report

Click Usage report on the Credits page to see where your credits went.

• Period: this month, last month, the last 30 or 90 days, this year, or your own dates. You can also choose one Service or Study. Then click Show.
• Credits used, with WhatsApp, Text messages and AI and their share.
• A chart of credits used per day, or per month for long periods.
• By service and feature: for example 42 minutes of transcripts, or 120 WhatsApp reminders.
• By study and By person. Automatic is work Zolensa does by itself, such as reminders and transcripts.
• Credits added: bought, free and added by Zolensa.
• All activity: every credit added or used, with the balance after.

Click Download CSV for a spreadsheet of all rows in the period. Times are in UTC.

No limit

Some workspaces have no credit limit, by agreement with the Zolensa team. Their balance shows No limit, and uses are still listed in the report.
