Highlights

A highlight marks something worth keeping: a moment in a video or voice note, a photo, or a whole answer. You can add a note and tags to each one. All highlights of a study are collected on the Highlights tab.

Highlight a moment in a video

1. Go to the Responses tab and find the entry.
2. Under the video, click Highlight.
3. Play the video. At the start of the moment, click Now next to From.
4. At the end of the moment, click Now next to To.
5. Optional: write a note on why this matters, and add tags separated by commas.
6. Click Save highlight.

You can also type the times yourself, such as 1:05 or 65 for one minute and five seconds. The end has to come after the start, within the recording.

Leave From and To both empty to highlight the whole recording. If you fill in only From, the highlight runs from that point to the end.

Voice notes work the same way.

Highlight other answers

Highlight also appears under photos, text answers, choices and ratings. These highlights cover the whole answer.

If an answer has several photos or files, choose one in Which photo or Which file, or leave All of them.

For videos, photos and voice notes, Highlight appears once the file is ready to play.

Notes and tags

• The note is optional and can be up to 1,000 characters.
• You can add up to 10 tags to a highlight. New tag names create new tags in the study. See Tag responses.

Highlights in Responses

Saved highlights appear under the answer, with the note, the tags and the name of the person who added it. For a moment in a video or voice note, click the time to play just that part. It stops at the end of the moment.

To delete a highlight, click the small cross next to it.

The Highlights page

Click the Highlights tab, or the Highlights button on Responses. Each highlight shows:

• the video, voice note or photo, or the answer text
• the participant, with a Test label for test participants
• the study day, task and question
• the times of the moment, the note and the tags
• who added it, and when
• Open the entry, to go to the full entry in Responses

Videos and voice notes on this page start at the highlighted moment.

Filter highlights

Choose a Tag, a Task or a Participant code and click Show. Click a tag on a highlight to filter by that tag. Click Clear to see all highlights again.

The page shows the 500 newest highlights that match.

Remove a highlight

Click Remove on the highlight. Its video and answer stay in the study.

Export

Click Export CSV on the Highlights page to download your highlights as a spreadsheet. It follows the filters you set. See Export answers and highlights as CSV.

Who can do this

Owners, researchers and moderators can add and remove highlights. Clients can see the Highlights page, but cannot change it.
