Help center Responses and analysis
Review responses
Watch videos, read answers and filter entries in a study's Responses tab.
The Responses tab shows everything participants send, newest first. Here you watch videos, look at photos, listen to voice notes and read answers, then tag and highlight what matters.
Open the responses
- Open the study.
- Click the Responses tab. The number next to it is how many entries the study has.
At the top you see how many entries, participants and files there are. If some files are still being converted, you also see how many are being prepared for playback.
Filter the entries
Use the filters above the list, then click Show:
- Task: one task, or All tasks.
- Day: the study day the entry was sent on.
- Group: one group, or No group. Shown when the study has groups.
- Contains: With video, With photos or With voice notes.
- Test answers: Included, Hidden or Only tests. Shown once there are test answers. See Test participants.
- Tag: entries with one tag. The number shows how many entries have it.
- Participant: a study code, such as P001.
Click Clear to remove all filters. Export CSV and Download files follow the filters you set.
How an entry looks
Each entry starts with a header:
- the participant's code. When the study shows first names, owners and researchers also see the first name.
- a Test label for test participants, the group, and Left the study if they have withdrawn
- the task name, with the entry number if the task can be answered more than once
- the study day and the time it was sent, in UTC
- Ask a follow-up, to write to the participant about this entry. It shows while the participant is still taking part. See Messages and follow-up questions.
Click the participant's code to see all their entries.
Below the header, each question is shown with its answer. Text answers appear as quotes, choices as a list, and ratings as a number on the scale. At the bottom of the entry are its tags. See Tag responses.
Videos, photos and voice notes
- Videos play in the page. Under each video you see its length and a Download link. "From the gallery" means the participant chose an existing video instead of recording one.
- Only one video or voice note plays at a time. Starting another pauses the first.
- Click a photo to see it larger.
- Voice notes play in the page and show their length.
Files are converted after upload so they play in every browser. Until then you see "Being prepared for playback. Refresh in a minute."
If a file cannot be converted, you see a note. Owners and researchers can then use Download the original.
Pages
The list shows 20 entries per page. Use Older and Newer to move between pages.
Who sees what
Everyone with access to the study can open Responses. Owners, researchers and moderators can also tag, highlight, write follow-ups and export. Clients can view entries, tags and highlights, but cannot change them. See Roles and Client view.
Tip: To keep the best moments, use Highlight under an answer. See Highlights.
