Tag responses

Add tags to entries, filter by them, and rename, merge or remove tags across a study.

Tags help you group responses by theme, such as "price" or "morning routine". This article shows how to add and remove tags on entries, and how to rename, merge or remove a tag across the whole study.

Add a tag to an entry

  1. Go to the Responses tab.
  2. At the bottom of an entry, click the Add a tag field.
  3. Type a tag name. Tags already used in the study are suggested as you type.
  4. Click Add.

The tag appears on the entry straight away, without reloading the page. If the name is new, Zolensa creates the tag and gives it a colour.

A tag name can be up to 60 characters. A study can have up to 300 tags.

You can also add tags to a highlight when you save it. See Highlights.

Remove a tag from an entry

Click the small cross on the tag. It is removed from that entry only. The tag itself stays in the study.

Find entries with a tag

  • Click a tag on any entry to see all entries with that tag.
  • Or choose it in the Tag filter at the top of Responses and click Show.

With the filter set, Export CSV and Download files only include the tagged entries. See Export answers and highlights as CSV.

Manage tags for the whole study

All tags are listed in the Tags box on the Highlights tab. For each tag you see how many entries and highlights have it. Click those numbers to see them.

Rename a tag

  1. Click Edit next to the tag.
  2. Change the name.
  3. Click Rename.

The new name shows everywhere the tag is used.

Merge two tags

Rename one tag to the exact name of another tag. Zolensa moves all its entries and highlights to the other tag and removes the first one. The message confirms it, for example: "pricing" merged into "price".

Remove a tag everywhere

  1. Click Edit next to the tag.
  2. Click Remove.

The tag is taken off every entry and every highlight in the study.

Note: Removing a tag cannot be undone. The entries and highlights themselves are kept.

Who can do this

  • Owners, researchers and moderators can add and remove tags on entries.
  • Only owners and researchers can rename, merge or remove tags for the whole study.
  • Clients can see tags and filter by them, but cannot change them.

See Roles.
