Recording videos, photos and voice notes
How to record a video, take a photo or record a voice note for a task, and how to know it has been sent.
Some questions ask you to record a video, take a photo or record a voice note. This page explains how it works on a phone and on a computer, and how to know your answer has arrived.
Allow the camera and microphone
The first time you record, your phone or browser may ask if the study can use the camera or the microphone. Tap Allow. If you said no by mistake, see Something is not working.
On a phone
- Record a video opens your phone's own camera. Record, then confirm the video.
- Take a photo opens your phone's camera. Take the photo, then confirm it.
- Record a voice note starts recording on the page straight away. Tap Stop when you are done.
On a computer
The camera opens inside the page.
- Click Record a video or Take a photo. You see Starting the camera... for a moment.
- Click Start recording, or Take the photo.
- For a video, click Stop when you are done.
Click Cancel to close the camera without recording. A clock shows how long you have recorded.
Tip: A phone usually works best. If the computer cannot record, open your personal link on your phone.
Videos and photos you already have
Some questions also show Choose a video or Add a photo. Only then can you pick a file from your phone's gallery. If you do not see these buttons, the research team would like a new recording made now.
Photos often hold the place where they were taken. When your photo is processed, Zolensa keeps only a copy without location or camera data.
Length and size
- Under the button you see the longest time allowed, for example Up to 2:00. A recording on the page stops by itself at that time.
- If a video is too long or too short, you see a message. Record it again.
- For photos, you see how many you have added, for example 1 of 3 photos. Some questions need more than one photo.
- Files can be up to 2 GB for a video, 40 MB for a photo and 200 MB for a voice note.
Uploading
After you record, your file appears under the question with a small preview.
- Uploading and a number show how far the upload is.
- Uploaded means the file has arrived.
- If the connection drops, you see Upload interrupted. It continues when your connection is back. It carries on by itself, or tap Try again.
- Tap Remove to delete a file. If you see Record again, tap it to replace the file with a new recording.
Please keep the page open until every file says Uploaded. If you try to leave earlier, your browser asks you to confirm.
When is it sent?
Uploaded is not the end yet. Your answers are sent only when you tap Send at the bottom of the task.
If a file is still uploading, you see Please wait until your uploads have finished. When everything is sent, you see Thank you! Your answers have been sent., and the task shows Done on the Today screen.
